If the Unit Is About to Go to Auction
Illinois storage facilities can place a lien on a unit for unpaid rent and auction the contents after providing the required notice. If you have received a lien notice or an auction date, contact the facility directly to arrange payment or access before that date. Once a unit goes to auction, you lose access and we cannot help. If you are trying to beat an auction deadline, call us as soon as possible. We can often schedule within 24 hours for urgent situations.
How the Cleanout Works
You sort, we haul. Point out what goes and we load it. If there are items you want to pull out and keep, do that before we arrive or during the job before loading begins. Once items go on the truck, they do not come back off. If you want us to take everything with no sorting involved, we can do that too. We clear the unit completely and you return the key at the end of the day.
Donation Receipts and Tax Documentation
If items from your unit are in good condition, we route them to Goodwill or Hesed House. We can provide documentation of donated items if you need a receipt for tax purposes. Let us know before the job starts if that matters so we can keep track of what goes to donation versus disposal.
Working Around Storage Facility Rules
Facilities have rules about truck access, drive aisle dwell time, operating hours, and height restrictions at the entrance. We ask about these when we schedule the job. Tell us which facility and unit you have so we can plan the logistics before we show up with a truck that does not fit through the gate.
What Affects the Price
Unit size and how full it is are the main drivers. A 5x10 unit is a short job. A 10x30 packed to the ceiling is a bigger one. We give you a range on the phone and confirm when we see the unit.

Will the storage facility allow your truck on the property?
Most facilities have no problem with a licensed, insured removal company on-site. It helps to call your facility ahead of time to let them know a removal crew is coming. Some facilities have specific hours for commercial vehicles. Tell us the facility name when you call and we can help coordinate if needed.
Do I need to be at the unit when you come?
Someone needs to authorize the removal and provide access. That does not have to be you u2014 a representative with the key or access code works. If you are managing a unit for a deceased family member, we can often work with an estate representative. Call us and describe the situation and we will figure out the logistics.
Can you clean out a unit that belonged to a deceased family member?
Yes. This is one of the most common situations we handle. If the estate is still being sorted, we can work around items that need family review. If the lease is ending and everything needs to go, we clear it completely. We have coordinated with out-of-state families and estate attorneys many times.
What if there are items in the unit I want to keep?
Be at the unit when we arrive and set aside what you want before we start loading. Or tell us in advance if there are specific categories u2014 certain boxes, tools, family items u2014 and we will work around those. We do not haul anything without your sign-off.
