Oswego does not have a local HHW facility. The closest permanent option is the Naperville HHW Facility at 156 Fort Hill Drive, Naperville, IL 60540. Open every Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., free for all Illinois residents, no appointment needed. Accepts oil-based paints, aerosols, automotive fluids, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, pesticides, propane tanks up to 20 lbs, and solvents. Does not accept latex paint, ammunition, tires, or medications.

For electronics specifically, the Kane County Recycling Center (517 E. Fabyan Pkwy., Geneva, IL) is the nearest weekday electronics drop-off. Open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. TVs and monitors accepted with a small fee.

What Self-Hauling Costs from Oswego

Transfer stations serving Kendall County charge at commercial tonnage rates. For a residential load, you typically pay a minimum regardless of actual weight. A truck rental, fuel, and the minimum dump fee for a moderately sized load runs $200-$350 in hard costs. Kendall County is more rural than Kane or DuPage, and transfer station options are fewer.

If you have clean metal (old fencing, scrap copper, steel appliance shells), scrap yards in Aurora accept it on weekdays and Saturday mornings. Worth a targeted trip but not a general disposal strategy.
